Kayaking "Selfies"

Do you want to make sure you capture those memorable moments when you hook the “big one” while kayak fishing? Do you want to have some kayaking “selfies” you can show to friends and share on social media sites? Well, I for one am all about preserving memories.

I have a waterproof camera to take just these types of photos, not to mention the beautiful sights you see while on the water. However, I needed to find a way to mount my camera. Initially, I attempted various DIY camera mounts but, for one reason or another, I was dissatisfied with the results. So, I decided to pick up the YakAttack Panfish Portrait from my local kayak shop, River Less Paddled.

The YakAttack Panfish Portrait is a simple product that works well. It comes with two common options to mount to your kayak: the Scotty type mount and the Mighty Bolt type mount, which attaches to the various track systems on the market today. I chose the Mighty Bolt mount, as my kayak has both factory equipped and an aftermarket 4” YakAttack track system, which I also picked up from River Less Paddled.

The YakAttack Panfish Portrait also comes with two options to mount your camera and/or action cam. It has the option of the common screw type camera mount or the GoPro type mount. I chose the standard screw mount, as both my camera and action cam requires this type.

The feature that really makes this mount great, is its pivoting head and its ability to move in multiple directions due to the use of a Ram ball system. This makes centering and capturing that perfect photo very easy.

The YakAttack Panfish Portrait is very durable and I have no qualms attaching my camera to it. It is very versatile and can be used by the kayak angler or the recreational kayaker as well. So, if you are interested in capturing those memorable moments on the water or those kayaking “selfies”, you may want to consider the YakAttack Panfish Portrait. I am very pleased with it and it does exactly what I need it to do.

Shane has been kayak fishing since 2009 and is passionate about it. Inshore saltwater kayak fishing is his addiction of choice, however, he enjoys the occasional offshore and freshwater trip as well. He mainly fishes the inshore lakes, bayous, and marshes of Southwest Louisiana but does venture into other territories. Shane is a member of the Hobie Fishing Team and holds Pro Staff positions with YakAngler, Lucid Fishing, and Ship To Shore Co. He was also the founding president of the Lake Charles Kayak Fishing Club. "My simple goal for this blog is to promote kayak fishing as it is something I love. I will post articles, reviews, videos, photos, and basically all things kayak fishing." ~Shane [Shane Coleman] (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2NDpawIFmAk/VXTdW7z-51I/AAAAAAAABBk/bENRfktWrpA/s539-no/df12fc81-bf77-4b88-8326-f65980b08dca)
